Heritage of the Tallgrass area of Oklahoma
Enjoy the recreation of several large Corps. of Engineer lakes with 90,000 acres of surface water and hundreds of miles of shoreline. This is the natural habitat for many waterfowl and winter home for Bald Eagles.
Visit the 39,000 acres of the Nature Conservancy's "Tallgrass Prairie Preserve", just north of Pawhuska, the home of over 1,600 Bison, 440 plant species and grasses that reach over 10' in height. The preserve is open daily for driving tours, hiking, picnicking and photography walks. Observe the beauty of the Bluestem Hills where wildflowers and wildlife are abundant.
